LaLaport Bukit Bintang, a Japanese-owned mall, aims to increase occupancy and visitor numbers by introducing a number of Japanese brands. One of them is 3COINS, a popular variety store chain from Osaka.
Situated on the LG Floor (unit 1-16A), the chain's first store in Malaysia is set to open on August 16, 2025. It covers an area of approximately 400 m², considerably larger than the typical outlets found in Japan.
At first glance, its interior design may remind some people of MUJI, a resemblance that is not surprising given both originated in Japan. Their product styles share a similar aesthetic: simple, stylish, and presented in soft color tones. The products are often designed with unique mechanism and specific usage.

3COINS occupies a unique position in the market, offering products at a moderate price point (grey area). While it is definitely pricier than discount chains like Daiso, it is also (somewhat) more budget-friendly than Muji.
INTERMEZZO: Founded in 1994, the name 3COINS can be traced to its initial concept, where most of its products were sold for approximately 300 yen (three 100-yen coins).
3COINS offers a wide array of household goods, beauty products, and fashion accessories. Customers can find portable desks, interior decorations, food containers, utensils, stationery, and bedding to enhance living and kitchen spaces.
